Yep, It's Monday

On more day, one more day, one more day. And nothing.  Monday has still arrived.  Which would lead to the story of the weekend.

My Forest ended up going to orientation for his very first job on Friday.  Which led him to working on Saturday morning right away.  So exciting that they have him working already.  Needless to say though that tossed a ratchet in the master plan. It did end up leading to some free time in my world, which progressed to a moment of: "Hey I have this fantastic idea." And boom we have a chalkboard wall in the house.  Yes, it went from fantastic idea to chalkboard wall.  Watch for more on this.

Saturday evening it was time for a night out.   Horicon Phoenix group was doing a spelling bee at the local tavern. Yes, you heard that correct.  Spelling and a tavern all in one sentence, you know that was awesome.  More on the details of that portion of the evening in a later post, where I will be starting a little thing called "Town Talk".  Yay.  Love new ideas.  Anyways, dinner at the tavern, spellling bee, and watching my Wisconsin Badgers make their way to the final four.

If you are watching a basketball game, I highly recommend doing it at the bar.  Why? The atmosphere all the way.  Add in the fact that the hubbie and I decided we were going to do a shot everytime the Badgers made a three pointer making it extra awesome.  Thankfully though that was not too many.  Sometimes a person just forgets how old they really are getting.  It has been many many moons since we have gone out and it was much needed.  We played some pool.  The hubbie had the nice remainder that I know I suck at pool and will lose, so I might as well cheat a little bit.   Plus we even got some darts in.

After that much of an exciting evening, you know that Sunday was like a nightmare that wouldn't end.  I managed to plan my month of menus, which I will be redoing since I determined that I was in no frame of mind to be doing that, and get the rest of the house stuff done type of day.  It was pretty nice in Wiscosnin like 50. We even managed to get outside a little bit for the infamous winter thaw stick and poop pick up.  And I discovered that some of my flowers are actually coming up.

Did a test run in the hammock....think it is working just fun and winter wasn't to harsh on it.

Plus we grilled!!

On top of all that it is picture link up time too with Kelli over at She Crab Soup.  Since everyone needs balance we will go with something healthy and a glorious bar burger.

Tomorrow it's going to be a huge day over here.

As in I will starting the #1800minutechallenge with Erin from Living in Yellow, Alissa from Alissa Circle, Emily from The Freckled Fox, and Alycia from Crowley Party.

Hee Haw Hee Haw

Since it is Friday, why not take some time out to discuss the week that was prior to completely forgetting about it over the wonderment called the weekend.   What did I do this week?  Good question.  Monday - nada, Tuesday - I was completely humbled by my blog post,Check Out My Town, that went crazy, Wednesday...no clue.

Thursday night, we attended the play at the high school.  Would say more about this except it deserves a post of its very own.  I will say that the play was Shakespeare's "Midsummers Night Dream".  And that in one of the school announcements this week it stated: "where a fairy queen fell in love with a donkey".

Which then led me to think what is the sudden obsession with donkeys?  We have donkeys in a play now.   Last month, there was donkey basketball at the high school.

I completely thought this was just something with the little town I live in until I saw the article: Having a Donkey at your Wedding is a Thing Now.    After my small analysis and search for the origin of this donkey craze, I decided that it probably started with:

Our Moo and his donkey love.  Yep, that is where it had to start with Moo.  Maybe they should just come out and declare it the year of the Donkey.  Of course 2014 is the year of the horse.  The horse does happen to be in the same family as the donkey.  Guess in a round about way it could be considered the year of the donkey.  There you have it:  All hail the Donkey!

No onto some random things that I discovered over the week.

I love when something wonderful comes after tragedy. This makes me smile:Boston Marathon bombing survivor engaged, expecting baby

Then you have life lessons:  16 'Pulp Fiction' Quotes That Will Help You Become A Better Person.  Now who had have known that there was some moral values behind "Pulp Fiction".  My favorite of them: 5. "Any time of the day is a good time for pie." -Fabienne.  So true, so very, very true.

Thank you Buzzfeed for putting this up:  53 Thoughts Every Girl Has While Shopping At Target.  I can not even say how many of those are true.

Which is the perfect lead into my moment where I had to give the hubbie a heads up regarding the number of packages that will be gracing the front doorstep.  And yes one of them would be from Target.

Thankfully next month I will be linking up with Steph over at Life According to Steph for:

While everyone is watching your money, no better time then to come to my blog on April 1 for the giveaway:

For now that is all from the sack.  Enjoy your weekend loves

The Eviscerator

Hello again. It is I, Charlie the great Chiweenie.  As I was warming myself under the blanket, possibly attempting to take a nap, my mommie and daddie woke me with their conversation about Easter.   They were discussing whether or not there should be gifts for Easter.  Really?!? Who are they to say if there are gifts for Easter? That is purely determined by the easter bunny. They have no say over that matter.

Surely mommie and daddie don’t have a direct line to him too?!?  I get rather frustrated that they have a direct line to santa. Every year I have to be on my best behavior throughout December.  Not that I, Charlie, am bad, I just need to be extra good.  Like try very, very hard not to poop on the floor for a whole month during the freezing cold depths of winter.  Difficult.  Back to what the Easter bunny will bring.  I would love a new stuffed toy to play with.  Mommie and daddie are hesitant on this.  This is completely due to the fact they believe that I, the gentle dear chiweenie, eviscerate things.  I believe this crazy idea stems from when mommie brought home some new toys for Bullet and me.

There we are with our toys. As you see I take mine to the kennel, then I can protect it from Bullet.  he enjoys stealing things to torment me.   Here is a picture I have found of Bullet later within the day with his toy:
When you look very closely you can see stuffing coming out of this poor dear squirrel that mommie purchased for him. He attempts to get their squeakers.  Those poor stuffed creatures.  The squeaker is like their little heart. She snuck the picture while he was resting after his first attempt.  Then she snaps this picture:
Yes, that was my bone.  The gentle chiweenie did not cause such a massacre.  It was the Bullet who was then resting before managing the final disembowelment of his poor squirrel.

How could this be that they believe I would be the cause of all this.  I show no sign of aggression towards any furry little creatures.  Squirrels meander onto the deck while I gaze out the patio door minding my own business.  Now my puppy brother bullet is always on the attack.  He would bust through the window if he could to catch the squirrel or bunny, for that matter.

Not sure why mommie does not see this.  These are the only pictures of the remnants of the painful torture that occurred.  I can not understand why she will not ensure the Easter bunny brings me a new stuff toyed?   After diligently looking for proof that she knows bullet is the cause of the problem, I came across one of her old blog posts, where she states that: if she dressed me up as a bunny bullet would eviscerate me, the dear gentle chiweenie.

That is it…I have solved the puzzle.  She cannot let the Easter bunny come here in fear that Bullet the Jack Russel will eviscerate him causing the children of the world to go without Easter.  Mommie must then be the one who brings us the toys.  She must do this so the family does not catch on to Bullets evil plan to capture the bunny and cancel easter across the world. She must keep the Easter bunny safe by letting him skip our house.  Smart mommie.  Maybe though mommie should seek a puppy whisperer for Bullet.  Then she would not have to continue to hide his aggression towards little fuzzy bunnies of the world.

As mommie has though, I must keep this master plan of Bullets quiet as to not evoke fear amongst the remainder of the house and do everything in my chiweenie powers to prevent this  destruction of Easter from happening.

I must go now there are bunnies to protect!! Plus I need to convince mommie that Bullet could use therapy and Charlie the Great Gentle Chiweenie needs a new toy for Easter, please.

Be safe my bunnies, Be safe

Beauty Buzz - Moisturizers

Here we are for another Tuesday Beauty Buzz.  Today's topic is moisturizers.  During some point I ended up with some dry skin.  No idea how this happened.  General life progression possibly.
My go to's to help keep my skin a glow and not dry read or itchy.  Yes folks it was that bad. Granted Wisconsin winters take a toll on everything. Here is the let's make my skin happy line up:

1.  Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil - Use this one some evenings when I feel like face is not a desert.  It is a lighter oil and absorbs super quick. Firms, brightens, hydrates.
2. Josie Maran Argon Oil - Use this when I am feeling dry.  Which seems to be most of the time.  When I wake up in the morning my skin glows and feels completely refereshed.  And causes absolutely no break outs.  Who would have known putting oil on your face can help with break outs.  Score.
3. Mario Badescu Caviar Night Cream - This is luxury in a bottle people.  Thick, creamy, glorious. With caviar in the title in almost makes you feel like an aristocrat.  A little bit goes a long with the oils.
4.  Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer - This is the daytime moisturizer of choice.  Doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky.  It is light and absorbs quickly.
There you have the next step in my everyday facial happiness quest.  Hopefully you found something new.  Linking up with:

Humbled

Today across all of facebook world a wonderful organization, the Horicon Phoenix group, in my hometown mentioned the blog post that I wrote about my hometown, Horicon.  In this post I mentioned their organization and all the wonderful things they have been and continue doing for our community.

Here is the mentioned post:     Check out my Town

I was very humbled and completely taken back that they mentioned the blog. It's just little me out here in some random spot in the cyberworld talking about things that I love.  I have never stood on a soapbox and shouted about my blog for the world to hear.  Honestly there are very few people who actually know that I write a blog.  Sometimes us bloggers are strange like that…we put it all out there because we love to share, bring joy to others, encourage and help. When the light does shine down upon us we scurry back to our little shells blushing.  For now though, this girl will poke her head out of the safety of the shell, and say yes.  I am Dawn, I blog at Life in the Sack.  I write from the heart about things that I love in my life that makes it more interesting.  You never know what you will find maybe a crazy weekend, things that I love to use in my day to day, projects I am working, or just random snippets and thoughts of my life with my family.  Here I am world just me…hurry up though you have like a hot 2 seconds before I go back to the safety and security of the shell.

This lifestyle blog, what would it be and my life be like without their organization? Interesting thought, I would not have had the chance to blog about an awesome music fest, nor the labor day festivities they did for our community.  In the upcoming year I am already looking forward to checking out their first ever spelling bee, the farmers market with the bands, the music fest again, labor day festivities and any other awesome events that they conjure up for our community.  Where would the small towns be without organizations of caring people who want to bring the people of a town together.  For the Horicon Phoenix program and other organizations like them, I am grateful for what they do and bring to the communities.
Here is to looking forward to another awesome 2014 in our little town.

Picture Practice: Water

Since I absolutely love a new reason to take way to many pictures, I was so in when Kelli over at She Crab Soup came up with this Picture Practice link up.   This week was water.  Here are two of my favorite water pictures I have:

A poor flower coming to an end in the garbage disposal.  The way the water fell and the droplets created a crazy pretty picture. IMHO

Of course with it being Wisconsin and the majority of the the water being frozen, here is a picture that was taken while I was out cross country skiing.

Now next weeks theme is food...so bring on a legit excuse for me to take pictures of almost everything I eat.  Win.

Did you see the Weekend?

Zoom...did you see that? Pretty fast wasn't it.   That would basically explain my weekend.  Another one of those where did it go again.  Really what I should be asking is where did the money go.  Even with it being my "house shopping weekend", it was over the top this month.
Thank goodness for the April spending freeze coming up.

Normally we would just run over to the town about 10 miles away and hit Walmart.  This time though we kind of ended up in Madison.  I am basing this on the fact that I am not good with size (your welcome, hubbie) and bought a picture that did not fit in the living room at Pier 1 in Wausau the other week.   Needless to say I had to return it.  The funny part of the return was when another picture caught my eye.  Oh that will fit, right up until we held the picture I returned next to it.  Guess what same size.  Still have a bare wall.

After that little thing, which was actually pretty big, it was off to Target.  Love!!  Attempted the whole Target couponing thing.  More on this in another post.  I drive my hubbie absolutely crazy with my Target shopping.  Even after two cups of coffee he held it together amazingly well.  Even after we concluded that we would need to go to another Target on the way home later for some items to finish off the living room.

We also used this as a chance to have lunch together at Red Lobster.  Yay, I love me seafood.  Sometimes I feel like I needed to be born closer to an ocean.  Then, of course, I probably would have always wanted to eat steak.

After that it was off to Best Buy to get me a new computer.  This is the number one reason he held it together so well in Target.  I had my old laptop more years then I can count.  It was definetly time for an upgrade.  Being particular and cheap, it was a daunting task.  The partial blindness requires a smaller screen and I didn't want anything to do with a touch screen. This was going to be my at home computer. After looking I finally found something that I can live with.  Now I am spending my days acclimating to Windows 8.

Our evening consistented of chilling and having a visit from my favorite little goobers. And Cooper loves taking pictures, always has.  Here is his photo taking samples for the evening.

Sunday it was finishing up the shopping and taking care of random business. Sir Charles though was resting.  Never just sit down on a place with a blanket at my house.  You may end up squishing a weiner, which I almost did.  Hence the evil eye from Sir Charles for disrupting his nap.

In our errands on Sunday, was a grocery store trip.  Now the grocery store is under construction, so you needed to go in a special way.

We completely felt like we were going into some sort of haunted house.  Creepy. And Wiscosnsin is on the verge of a thaw out.  After watching the hubbie, pick up dog poo in the morning thought we might want to get another scooper. So can you guess what the most sought after popular out of stock item is......Poop Scoopers.  So much for that idea.
Right next to that was doggie shampoos.  Now maybe my mind has veered into the gutter, But I love pet head dirty talk. Something is just not right about that.  Just sayin'

And being Sunday and all...it was family dinner time.  Which I experimented with one of my staple recipes and it came out even better.  Watch for the recipe on that one.   Plus we ended our day with Family Face time.

What did his bracket do better then mine?!?!

There you have the weekend that was.  Now it is time to get my butt back in gear for yet another week.

The week that was

Since it is Friday, it seems to be rather appropriate to figure out what actually went down in the sack this week.   After all our future's so bright we have to wear shades....

This is what happens in the sack when you forget your sunglasses.  We pass them around, pimp them out, and hold them for randsom.  Not quite sure who wore them best.  Think it maybe a toss up between the Forest and the chiweenie.  Charlie was probably thinking something along the lines of "Dear Uncle, I got your glasses you little bitch, that's what you get for freaking me out and causing me to poop on the couch then the floor."  (True Story)

And this week we rejoiced in the fact we have a new licensed driver in the house.  Way to go Forest!!
No better way to celebrate then with Dominos...

And Forest got some help with his cookie baking too...
You know what it means when you are a good helper....you get to lick the beaters.  Seriously this is like a highlight of childhood.

And no week is complete without taking time out to make faces with Auntie Dawn

Seriously where else would they learn the important things in life.

Since the sun decided to shine on the first day of spring, we embraced the opportunity to get a little vitamin D and burn some energy out of the puppies.
A glorious evening for a walk.  And our little chiweenie saw some little chihuahuas and made an attempt to follow his people.  Good thing he was leashed or him and his buds would be running for the border.

Now some randomness from the internet trolling this week to expand your intellect....

1. Bestie And Wackadoodle Are Now Words In The Oxford English Dictionary - I seriously can not believe it took so long for crap shoot and do-over to make it in there.

2. 20 Things That Shouldn’t Be Terrifying But Totally Are - Basements all the way, I recall running into my parents basement so I could get out quicker.  Does putting rec rooms down there make it any better?  And of course anything that pops, explodes or makes a sudden noise..freaky.

3. 8 Things you've Always Wondered about, Finally Explained - At some point in a trival game, you will thank me for this link.

4. The Most Difficult Part of a Second Marriage - The hubbie looked at me funny when I said I was reading the divorce section in the Huffington Post.  Look at the knowledge you can find out there.

There you have it for our little week in the sack.  Now I have to go check my bracket to determine if I might possibly beat the sports crazy teenager for a change.

Enjoy the weekend lovelies
