Celebrations

Celebrate. Well now who doesn't like a celebration.  Late December of 2012, I came to the conclusion that my family needed to celebrate more, outside of those boring standard holidays. Note the "I" in this whole sentence.  Tough bananas for them.  It will happen and they will enjoy it. Bring on our Reasons to celebrate.

The first reason to celebrate was National Rubber Ducky Day (January).  Since this was a major to surprise everyone in my family, I think it was a major hit. Kind of forgot to mention to them that I may just randomly toss in a reason to celebrate on a whim. And if only I could have captured the husbands face when he saw the duck explosion in the breakfast nook.

We even shared the joy of this celebration with my ubberly cute newphews.  Now they can not wait to find the duckies at Auntie Dawn's house.

Of course we had Valentines Day after this.  Yes a boring standard holiday to be celebrated.  I prefer though to get valentines for all my loves, not just my main squeeze.  As every year, a few little items placed on a pillow to show them I care.  This little tradition was stolen from my father.  Who ever year on Valentines Day would sneak in while we were sleeping and put candy under our pillow.  Such a wonderful memory for me in my childhood.  Hopefully this will be passed along in my actions now.

Seems like it took us awhile to get around to the next celebration day in March.  Not sure it could be classified as a celebration though.  It was Learn what your name means day.  Sorry no pictures  to report on this one.  Both of our kids were gone, so they celebrated a day later.

March also brought the joys of Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday.  And did we gorge on this date.  In support of one of my besties, every year we give up sweets.  Now that is the world's greatest friend.  Needless to say though we definetly got in our share before the start of the whole lent thing.

Wow as I glanced at the calendar to see what else we celebrated, I determined our house was not being shy about celebrating or shall I say indulging in days that revolved around food. I guess like the husband says, "fat and happy". Roll out the red carpet for National Alfredo Day, National Tortellini Day, National Chili Day, National Cereal Day, National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, National Grilled Cheese Day,  and finally National Pretzel Day.

Who knows what next month will bring on my quest to celebrate.  Stay Tuned.
