Stitch Fixery #13

Time for fix number 13....in case you thought you missed the keepers from 11 and 12, you did not.  I really need to get the pictures done of those items. Lately there just seems to be not enough hours in the day, maybe if there was less real work, more time for fun blog work and just more time for fun in general it would be different. Seriously doubtful, cause if this girl didn't have to work for her money...I would just be out having some serious summer fun. 

Now anyways stay tuned for #11-12 keepers, and we shall get on with number 13....my request was basically anything that would work for my Mexico trip and the small town music fest that was right around the corner.

1. Papermoon Loraine Lace Trim Knit Tank

 

This one was a keeper.  Perfect with my skinnie jeans and I won nothing like it.  Plus the cotton was very soft and I am a total sucker when it comes to soft cotton.

 

2. Isabelle Crochet Tank Top

 

Another keeper.  This was absolutely perfect for putting on over my swimsuit when we were in Mexico.  There I also paired it up with a pair of brown khaki shorts.

 

3. Chambrai Norene Linen Cuffed Short

 

While I love linen shorts, as you can tell by the expression on my face these went back.  Color was ok, length was a little long and they really did nothing for the butt.

 

4. Papermoon Briar Maxi Dress

 

Alright, let's just call this a short girl dream.  I am happy they sent a maxi dress.  In the picture I was in heels plus standing on my toes and still today I am not sure that this works for me.  It went back. Fun to try though.

 

5. Street Level Kaeyln Laser Cut Two-Tone Reversible Tote

 

And finally we have a bag bigger than I am, which was ok since I asked for something to take to the beach.  This went back. Maybe it was the reversible factor or the vision of sand in all the die cutouts, not sure but it wasn't working for me.

 

There is my number 13.  With being introduced to this whole concept of capsule wardrobe and seasonal color matching, I will be tasking my stylist with something related to those for number 14.

Ipsy Insight

 

Once upon a time there was a girl who loved makeup and getting fun new things to try out in the make up department.  One day an ad or announcement appeared that was a huge hello check out we have Ipsy over here.  Ohs and aaahhs led to a "hey why not".    After a slight wait, the shipping date came and this little envelope of interest arrived at the doorstep.

 

Now time to get to what was inside. 

1. A small makeup bag - ok. I don't really have a use for another makeup bag

2. IT CC Cream - Used this while I was in Mexico and did not get burned plus provided nice coverage

3. Oscar Brandt Mousse - I do nothing really with my hair, so this will be "rehomed".

4. The Balm Eyeshadow in Fit - Like the color even though I do have similar colors. 

 

5. GlamGlow Thirsty Cleanser - Waiting until Winter to give this the true test

6. Klorane Eye Patches - Soothing yes.  I chill them in the refrig and put them on in the afternoon when my eyes were feeling tired from the screen time at work.

And moving on with my thoughts.  This subscription is $10 per month.  You do not know what you are getting nor do you have the option to select what you would like.   While it was fun, I opted to cancel after this one month.  The only reason being is that I have so much make up and skincare items now that I would really like to clean house on some of that before exploring other options.   If you are looking to try new things and love makeup, skincare or hair items, I would recommend this subscription service.

Stitch Fixery #11-12

Since my last little stich fix post, I have actually had two boxes of glory arrive at my doorstep.  Today I am going to grace everyone with the uuuummm, sorry no, not so much items.  Or the items that were just not me and had to go back to find the correct owner.

1. Kathy Striped Fit and Flare Dress

I thought this was cute and liked the fit, but there as just something about the stripes that wasn't working for me.   Turns out though it did work for K and she scored herself a new dress.  So this one was kind of a no...yet keep.

2. and 3.   Lennox Lace Detail Blouse and Caius Straight Leg Jean

Now the lace detailing and pattern on the shirt was cute.  I couldn't get over the little tie in the front.  Now the jeans, the color was just awkward for me.  Comfort level was awesome, but I just couldn't get past the color and finding something to wear with it in my closet.

 

4. Jaye Cutout Shoulder Blouse

 

I am a sucker for the cutout shoulders.  The pattern though and the fit was a little off for me.

Mall Haul aka Lovin' Lush

During my crazy week last week, one of the things that I needed to do was to get the 6 month check done on my wedding ring.  Yes, I actually go in every 6 months just like I am suppose to.  The added benefit is the legit excuse to go to the mall.  See living out in the sticks means that a mall trip requires a little bit of planning plus an hour drive.  Torture for me, relaxation for my wallet.

When I go, I of course have to stop at one of my fave stores...Lush.  And by the time I go I always have a list of must haves and tries and by the picture above you can tell the list was kind of long and very glorious.

Let the Good Times Roll Cleanser:  Sample Size.  Will be checking this out for my exfoliating/moisturizing needs for Winter. It smells delicious.

Herbalism: This is a cleanser for troubled skin that sucks up oil, tones the skin and provides a light exfoliant.   Purchased this for my and my steppies usage.  Hoping that I have discovered a replacement for my mid-week exfoliant.  With this cleanser, you pinch off a small portion, add a little water, and mix into a paste in your hand prior to using on your face.  Compared to liquid soap it takes a little getting used too.  This is a try.

Ocean Salt:  Lush's best selling exfoliant for a reason.  To find the words to describe the glory that comes in this little pot.  It helps with hydration, blemishes, and plus the dead skin cells.  I absolutely love how this makes my skin feel and look.  Must Buy.

Green Circle product...details to come below.  It is interesting to say the least.

Grease Lighting:  Go Grease LIghting...Gooooo.  Tea Tree, Witch Hazel and Aloe.  Stated as a spot treatment.  I use a thin layer every night to keep my cranky skin at bay. Plus super gentle for my dry moodie skin. Absolute must have in my routine.

Coalface: Now that big block of gray matter would be coalface.  Meant for combo to oily skin aka I have my period this week and my skin is having a major temper tantrum necessity.  Charcoal absorbs the oils and exfoliates.  This is an item that intrigued me and was a "I need to try this".

Time for the weird circle thing in the silver container and another item in the the silver container.

Squeaky Green Shampoo: Yep that green circle thing is a shampoo bar.  When I first heard of them I was intrigued to say the least.  I absolutely had to get one to try.  From the website: "Squeaky green is our herbal shampoo for oily locks and stressed out scalps. Stimulating rosemary, peppermint and tea tree cleanse the scalp and hair, and soothing vanilla and chamomile calm any irritation or itchiness. We're proud to say that our shampoo bars are not only environmentally friendly (no packaging or preservatives), but also economical (each bar lasts as long as 3 medium sized bottles of liquid shampoo) and most importantly, effective. Fresh hair, soothed scalp and a squeaky clean conscience!"   Now I did some what look at what this one would do for me, but I loved the smell of it.  In the trial stage now.

Big Solid Conditioner:  The white bar is a conditioner.  Again I was intrigued by the fact a conditioner could come in the form of a bar of soap.  This one is for volume and shine.  Trying it out as we speak.

Now everyone should know that I can not go to the mall without a quick stop at Sephora, of course. Had a few things on my list to just check out and then I found a few other things I wanted to try.

Now the things that I checked out in the store were just so-so.  Ended up cruising the travel size aisle and ended up bringing home a few things.

Tarte BB Cream:  It was such a small bottle that I could not pass it up.  After all it was the perfect size for backpacking.

Pure Vanilla Deodrant:  Wanted to try this for a little while now.  Seeing that they had it in a travel size was perfect.  Wish they would have had more flavors.

GlamGlow Dual Cleansing Mud: Grabbed a sample of this.  The items from Glamglow are so expensive there would be no way I would check them out without a sample.

Extra Bonus to my trip was that I cashed in my points for a freebie...which is awesome since I love the origins products and I needed more of their glorious eye cream anyway.  Now I have been changing up a few of my items in my skincare routine to check some of these little goodies out.

One of the very last things I left the mall with was the infamous Buddy Squirrel Popcorn, which is of course like crack and only really last a few days plus became my dinner for a few nights...because I am an adult and can do that.  Whoot.

There you have the little mall bender I went on the other week.  Wallet is cranking, Dawn is a happy girl.  Now to patiently await the next excuse for a little retail therapy.

I Feel Pretty - Stitch #7

Here we find ourselves with another episode of the stitch fix.  I love my Stitch Fixes.   Just recently they came up with an option to have it auto delivered every other month.  You know that makes it even more wonderful for me.  No need for me to go and remember to place my order every other month.  Anyways, more info to follow on how you can get hooked up with a fix after the glory of course.   Ready, set go....

1.Three Dots Jessika Linen Solid Swing Skirt

Very comfortable.  Was a little too big on me plus I am not a huge fan of the bright blue.  So it was a no go. 

 

2. 41 Hawthorne Shelly Paisley Border Print V-Neck Blouse

Paired it up with the blue skirt as my stylist suggested.  Sadly though it made me look a little frumpy.  Print was crazy interesting.

 

3. Papermoon Lupita Colorblocked Cross-Back Tank

 

Ok I really wanted to love this one. Light, fresh and perfect for summer except...too big.

 

4.  Loren hope Indiana Rhinestone & Chain Bracelet

 

Now this bracelet was beautiful.  Sparkly and wonderful.  Couldn't commit to it though.  Just don't wear enough bracelets.  If you are a bracelet girl, I highly recommend requesting this little precious in your next fix.

 

5.Renee C Ashford Striped Cross-Front knit Shirt\

Oh yeah seen something like this before?  I happen to have scored something similiar in a coral color in my last one.  This one though, new color, 3/4 sleeves, super soft material and it was a keeper.

 

There you have my fix.  It was fun, like always.  Number one thing I can say is give lots of feedback on your order for your future fixes.   After feeling like I was getting to many "big" shirts, I have gone and adjusted my size.  Now hopefully this will not stop me from being able to get something I adored.

Mother Daughter Match up

Inspired by Alison over at Get your Pretty On today we will be having a little I Feel Pretty Mother Daughter match up.  Seeing how much Alison and her daughter enjoyed doing it together I couldn't resist seeing if my steppie would be game, after all what girl doesn't want to play dress up and take pictures.  Since you are reading this post, you clearly could see she was in.   Here is our first (step) mother/daughter pretty post.

Since we both clearly love the military style jacket, which was not the challenge, let's take a look at a couple pics on how we wear that.

 

Now the real challenge should you accept it is....the very spring light blue striped button up. 

Steppie paired it with some distressed rolled up jeans and cute crochet ballerina flats.

 

I paired it with rolled up skinny jeans and my latest love, rocket dog penny waxy weave sneakers.  As you can see great stylish minds think alike.

 

Now what fun is a mini photo shoot without some outtakes.  Seriously people this whole being brave and playing model/photographer thing is darn hard work.  Might as well have some fun along the way.

The pictures in the military jackets came from us just going on a mini-hike at the park while we were there.

Beauty Buzz - Moisturizers

Here we are for another Tuesday Beauty Buzz.  Today's topic is moisturizers.  During some point I ended up with some dry skin.  No idea how this happened.  General life progression possibly.

My go to's to help keep my skin a glow and not dry read or itchy.  Yes folks it was that bad. Granted Wisconsin winters take a toll on everything. Here is the let's make my skin happy line up:

 

1.  Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil - Use this one some evenings when I feel like face is not a desert.  It is a lighter oil and absorbs super quick. Firms, brightens, hydrates.

2. Josie Maran Argon Oil - Use this when I am feeling dry.  Which seems to be most of the time.  When I wake up in the morning my skin glows and feels completely refereshed.  And causes absolutely no break outs.  Who would have known putting oil on your face can help with break outs.  Score.

3. Mario Badescu Caviar Night Cream - This is luxury in a bottle people.  Thick, creamy, glorious. With caviar in the title in almost makes you feel like an aristocrat.  A little bit goes a long with the oils. 

4.  Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer - This is the daytime moisturizer of choice.  Doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky.  It is light and absorbs quickly.

I Feel Pretty - Stitch Fix #6

I feel pretty, oh so pretty.   Time again for another Stitch Fix.  I love stitch fix. Interested, more details below on how to get some of this awesomeness in your life.  It is so much fun.   This fix couldn't have come at a better time either.  Let's just get on with it and see shall we...

1. Roxanna Chevron Open Knit Cardigan

The cut and overall fit on this sweater was wonderful.  Not very sure on the print though.  Almost felt like is was a direct arrow to my bootie.

2. Gracelyn Back Twist Knit Top and 3. Kensie Sophia Distressed Jean

Loved the color of the shirt.  There is absolutely nothing in this color in my drawer.  Said to say with the cut when I turned to the side I looked a little prego (not the spaghetti sauce either).   The jeans.  Material was gloriously comfy and the wash beautiful.  They were a little to big and long, so I was feeling like I was constantly pulling my pants up.

4. Jayla Front Twist Sweater

This sweater had spring written all over it.  I paired it with an aqua cami underneath.  The color was beautiful coral and the material super soft.  Then later I also put the next item with it.

 

5. Holly Chevron Arrow Print Infinity Scarf

 

 

 

Honestly when I saw the pattern in the box I was kind of like, "oh goodness, that could be a crazy shirt".  When opening my box I have vowed not to read the cards or the letter until after I look at whats in the box.  The minute I pulled it out and reazlied it was a scarf.  I was in love.  Pattern is crazy awesome.  Bonus is that I will be able to transition this thru the seasons.  Completely plan on wearing it this week, so keep an eye out.

 

And of course, there is the famous what did I keep question.  This one was a tough one.  Almost ended up with all 5.  Even the hubbie said, "you are going to keep the whole box?"  Note the key word there was "almost".  My little dilema: Loved two of the items. Was on the fence on a third item.  Well if I kept the third then I might as well go for the whole box.  Then I recalled on the third item that I would only buy if it was a perfect fit.  It happened to be the jeans.

 

Which did I keep....4. Jayla twist sweater and 5. Holly Chevron Arrow Print Scarf. 

Absolutely love both of them.
