Ghosts of Weekends Past

Friday evening started off fantastically right, I stopped at starbucks for one of their birthday cake fraps.
It absolutely tasted exactly like a birthday cake.

Saturday AM I managed to get in my last long run for the half marathon that may or may no be happening. I can say I need to realize that I must eat better the night before.  I did manage to finish watching "Gone Girl", which was awesome.  I serioulsy want to read the second book like right now, but I am fininshing "Wild".   And I think I was totally rockin' an upcoming hairstyle...the vertical piggytails.

Then since I discovered I was cramping again...and there happens to be a sauna in the locker...I totally hit that thing up which my 15 minutes check this out turned into a 30 minute oh this is glorious.

Oh yeah that said 120.  Now I am not really sure what the whole red thing meant, Think I will just assume my goal should be to never get it that hot.

After that a few errands were order and then home for the afternoon to get some work done. Because later in the evening we had to hit the bowling alley for some pizza time and to watch the Badger basketball game.  And can you tell we are related....
If my shirt would have been black underneath...I may have had to change.

Now the slight downer was we did not get to finish watching the game at the bowling alley.  Instead we got the awesome news that the Badgers are going to the final four in the middle of the high school play that we went too.  You know, there was no way I would miss K's play.
I was completely impressed.  Each one of the kids did an fantastic job on the play.  If you are not familiar with "The Diary of Anne Frank", it is about a business owner who takes his family, another couple, and a dentists and they hide in a room above his factory during world war two.  It is an insight to the basic struggles of the group viewed thru a teenagers girl's eyes.  Sadly Anne Frank does not survive the war.

After all that was said and done, we watched "Gone Girl". Or maybe I should they watched "Gone Girl" while I proceeded to fall asleep.  Well at least I finished watching it earlier in the morning.  Now I am anxious to read the second book.

Sunday found us doing our normal...cleaning house, grocery stopping....but there was a stellar moment for the day.  Midday Culvers Custard Sunday for the win.

And the little bro brought some pizza for dinner, which led to an amazing run this morning.

Happy Monday Loves

Friday Five and a something, something

After seeing the glory of kind of a shitastical week go down, it was nice to see things finally take a turn for better.

1. Walking the puppies.  Ok well I have started to walk two of the puppies.  It is to hard for me to walk all three because I end up doing the 17lb chiweenie carry, so now I take two and the hubbie takes his little schmellow.   Plus, this has helped Little Man sleep a little better at night which equals more sleep for the hubbie and myself.  Winning.

2. Badger Basketball Team is on to the Sweet 16.  Holler.  This Badger girl is loving it.
Now I need to buy those glasses and an actual basketball jersey.

3.  StitchFix glory and goodness arrived this week. I love, love getting my fixes in the mail.  I am a little behind on posting. Hold tight though it is in the works.

4.  Our Green Burrito aka the Durango is fixed again and only cost $100 for the win.

5. Sneaking to see the Littles before I went to work this morning...and watching the little coopers butt move when I played "Fireball" as he was dozing.  Look at this adorableness....
Bring me my pillow pet too...I want a snuggle.  No bad day can come after that.

Now on the horizon for the weekend will be a Starbucks Birthday Frap, watching the Badgers move to the final 8 (yeah I said it, so it shall be) and seeing K on her play, "The Diary of Anne Frank" at the school.  What was the glorious moments of your week? And what awesomeness is on the horizon for you?

Time to Work Out - March

Alright time to own up and see how the last month went on my little fitness path...insanity or whatever you would like to call this.  Last month I declared my defeat? Um no, change of mind on the dropping of the marathon to some halves, yes.  Now hold tight because this little month has decided to throw me yet another little monkey wrench.

Week 9 - All normal here, 3 run, 1 bike, and 2 lift days

Week 10 - 3 run, 1 bike and 2 lift days - Totally sucked on the weekend run.  Could not get my head in the game ended up deciding to run on the treadmill.

Week 11 - 2 run and 2 lift days. All runs went well this week.  My head was back in the game.   I changed up my lifting routine and now walking down steps was a pretty hilarious thing to watch.  This week I added in doing a dog walk Friday morning along with one of my dvds also. Let's review how that went down.

Jillian Michaels Yoga DVD is nothing like yoga! I felt like I was doing some fast paced exercises.  Note dog walking is not going to work. Those three mutts are pains in the butt. I can say carrying a 17lb chiweenie for like 4 blocks helped to build up my bicep. Damn the hubbie's schmellow.  Saturday of the week I missed my run, way to f'ing go. And the real icing on the shitcake for the week...

My hopes of the spring half are slowly pulling away from me.  Not because of the training parts. It is the family obligation that presented itself.  My sons prom the night before...a spring half may not be in the cards.  We shall see though, after all how bad could running 13 miles on about 4 hours of sleep be.   No one ever really said I was sane.

Week 12 -  To date since we are mid-week 12.  1 lift and 2 run days. Sunday I got an unintentional work out in...which would be plunging the basement wash tub or holding one of the plungers while the husband plunged the other side of the sink.  Maybe I will start a new fitness trend called Plumber fitness, but there will be no ass cracks allowed.  Pull those drawers up boys and girls.

Now since momma likes her sleep I have also instituted nightly dog walking.  Because that whole walking Friday morning shit isn't happen every again. Which happened for the first time last night....and my little man made it until the alarm went off.  Today was a change up in the "speed work out portion of the half training.  Yes, even with what I said prior, I am still keeping up with the training (just in case).  Based on the new speed workout, I hit a new treadmill PR for my 5k time, which was sandwiched in between about a 1 1/2 miles of  "easy" pace.  Holler...and I am still singing "I'm and albatross".

Oh yeah...you got it.  And if you are curious to why there are cute animals scattered about the post, every post needs pictures and they are cute, HELLO!

Until next month....

Ghost of Weekend Past

Happy Monday people.   It is a new week and I am in need of a new one more than I would like to admit.  Last week was a rough one.  Thankfully though it was not a rough one for the Badger Basketball team and they are headed to the sweet sixteen.  Holler, I am a Badger Girl all the way everyday!

And back to the weekend....you would think it would have been fantastic when someone from work brought me a sundae.
My office companion thought it was rather funny that we discovered, I have sugar buzz issues...like for two hours I was flying higher than a kite and could not form a sentence to save my arse.

Friday night was the Badger's first game in the tourney, so since we had so much fun in years past, we hit the tavern.

And the hubbie deemed that this shall be the new basketball jersey since he paid like over $100 for it and damn it, it will get worn.  Of course he also pointed out that the number one problem with the game was it wasn't hockey.  You know I bet he likes hockey.   Which really who can argue that...except when watching basketball at the bar.

Saturday AM was spent with my littles.  The Cooper happens to be a dribbler...and note the moo eating his muffins...
Moo: Why yes it is ok if I eat muffins in the living room auntie Dawn
Auntie: Ok are you sure
Moo: yes
tick tock.....hours later....
Little Bro: Someone ate muffins in the living room
Auntie: Whoops, Moo said it was ok
.....into the house auntie goes...
Auntie: Hey moo, guess what daddie said you aren't suppose to eat in the living room
Moo: Muffins <giggle>
Auntie:  Well who told him
Moo:  <points at himself>
Auntie: Who got in trouble
Moo:  <points at auntie>
Auntie: Guess who won't be eating them there again
Moo: <points at himself>
Auntie:  you got that right little terd.

And the river is no longer iced over, so the littles are ready for swagtime and the sandbar.

The afternoon found my hubbie trying out his brand new tractor and rolling out our lawn.

We have the bumpiest lawn ever, I swear.  Then for me it was off to get my son fitted for his tux for prom.

After my husbands craptastical week, I also grabbed the movie "Dumb and Dumber 2".   It was hilarious and absolutely as good as the first one.   Speaking of dumb...meet Little Man.

And then Sunday happened....when your poptart gets stuck in the toaster so bad you basically have to mash it to little pieces to get it out.

Which after we got it out and we ran the toaster again....it started smoking.  Glorious.  Oh but it only got better when the drain tub in the basement decided to become clogged.  After way to much time plunging the thing and a mass amount of chemicals, we determined a plumber was needed and I would be spending some of the afternoon at the good ole laundry mat.

$2.00 for a load of laundry, just in case you needed to know.   The worst of the whole situation was the nasty rotten egg smell that seeped throughout the house. Plumber called today.

Since it was Sunday, we had our Sunday family dinner.  I can say that Cooper gets just as jacked up as I do on sugar.  And Auntie Dawn learned something new to use next time I PR

Oh yeah I am so using that...and speaking of smelling victory.  The Badgers on their way to the sweet sixteen!!  Smell it, Smell It....Happy Monday

Twitterpated

Hello, It is I chuck the Chiweenie.  Sorry for being so MIA from my mommies blog over the last few months.  There have been many to do's going on.

Love has been in the air.  I found this lovely short haired nicely tanned Chihuahua girl that I was wooing for days.  Ok maybe it was more like a day, but in dog years that is months.  We were so in love.  Spending our evenings getting all shitty on Bourbon street and our days sunning ourselves on the riverwalk.  I was a lucky Chuck.  Come to find out she was even on my level in society...she was a duchess.

She kept this very quiet from me...I found out about it on the day of the parade.  She probably thought I would want her for her title...little did she know I am prince and a lord of my own people. She was overjoyed and we celebrated the nights away.  We even ran into mommie and daddie's favorite New Orleans bartender too.

That girl has it going on and can mix up a drink like nobodies business.  She made me one of those special drinks of green goodness.  Just like my mommie loves.

Well I discovered that this glorious green goodness is a little much for Chuck...I woke up days later in Arizona running with my crew.  Our crew has gotten so powerful in this town, we have even made the news.

Strays they say, we are not strays.  We are strong.  And excuse us for getting on these young children's arses to get them to school in time.  Let them try to take us...we will continue to rule the streets.  I though had to leave them to return home to my mommie and daddie before they got suspicious that I, the innocent Chuck, was behind this.

Now what about my duchess you ask, when I finally awoke from the haze of the green goodness I discovered she had returned to her family...something about going to rehab and needing to sober up.  Good for you princess, good for you.

A Day in the Life...

Did you ever want to sit and see what someone actually does all day...the where were you, you did what?  Well now, of course you did or do because hello have you been introduced to social media.

Basically I decided that I would document every hour or as close as possible on the hour with a quick snap....seriously I put each one of these up on snap chat.  And believe me it is hard to remember to stop wherever you are and click a quick picture.

The first day in my life happened to be a Saturday....

5:00 am: Wake up, ready set go
6:00 am - Found me feeding the machine.  Chocolate chip bagels with cream cheese spread is one of my pre-run jams.
7:00 am -  Pulling into the parking lot of the gym
8:00 am - Half way thru my run...quick breather to restart the treadmill. Did you know that a treadmill will only go for 60 minutes at a time?
9:00 am - Done with my run found me stretching my chicken legs out.
10:00 am - Wal-Mart run for the house shopping for the month.  Bonus this month is that the Wal-Mart that is close to the gym has a killer air freshener section. And yes between 9 and 10 I showered, your welcome.
11:00 am - Detour to Maurices...hey everyone needs a little me spoiling.
12:00 pm - Stop at the flower shop to pick up the corsage for my son for his winterfest date and then off to do the grocery shopping.
1:00 pm - Did I mention I ran in the morning...McDonalds Shamrock Shake and chicken nugget happy meal for me.
2:00 pm -  The picture got lost, but I was working on my son's taxes with him...whoot first time filing. Welcome to the workforce Mr. Taxpayer, oh never mind kids get everything back...gggrrr.
3:00 pm - Found us waiting/pacing until we had to head out for Winterfest pictures.
4:00 pm - Herding cats...oh I mean teenagers to get pictures taken of them all together, then with there dates, then just the boys, then the girls and then parents with the kids...shuffle shuffle everyday I am shuffling.  Sorry..no picture due to the craziness.
5:00 pm - Getting the work done....work like a boss bitch.
6:00 pm - Still getting the work done and hurrying it right along....because I was getting ready to chew someone's arm off. Again lost picture.
7:00 pm - Finally it was bowling alley pizza time.
8:00 pm - Getting some wash put away and clothes laid out for the week (yes this is a normal Sunday task, but we had other plans on Sunday)
9:00 pm  - Waiting for them to open the gym doors to see the grand march at winterfest.
10:00 pm - My day is finally done and time for a little sleepytime for this girl.

And there you have a simple day in my life. What does your day look like?

Ghosts of Weekends Past

It is Monday...stating the obvious, I guess. Sadly I am coming into Monday feeling slightly discombobulated from the weekend versus my oh yeah bring on the new week.

Saturday for the most part was kind of shitacular. Was not feeling my run and even with the nice weather, I decided screw it...I will run on the treadmill and watch a movie. Needless to say my tablet decided to be a little pain in the arse and I only made it an hour into the movie.

Then I went to my least fave place on the planet aka Walmart for a pooper scooper.  You know it is the spring thaw around here and my yard was literally turning into a cesspool of shit.  Hey guess what Walmart doesn't carry by us...a pooper scooper.  Thank you for solidifying your position on my least liked list.  The hubbie ran to our local hardware store and grabbed one.  Many hands make for light work and the yard was cleaned in an hour.

Afternoon found me catching up on some work before we took the kids to there surprise outing a Badger Hockey game.  Our house loves colleges hockey.

Oh yeah selfie with bucky

We were 2-3 rows up from the glass...and it was absolutely awesome watching people get slammed into it.  Plus watching people jump when a puck hit.

And then before the third period the little ones came out.

Sadly the Badgers lost, but we had a blast.  Now to schedule next years hockey game.  Afterwards we also hit the Nitty Gritty for burgers.  Oh and I had this absolutely glorious chocolate nutella milk shake.  In love I was.

Sunday morning...cleaning, shopping, and an endless pile of laundry this week. Plus I argued with my geocaching Garmin...and I won! By the time this was all finished...it was time to get ready for the steppie's wrestling banquet.  I am going to say that I was disappointed.  We paid $13 for a plate of baked chicken and spaghetti.  There were no drinks included, so you were left to pay $2 for a soda at the bar.  No alcohol was being served either, which after listening to one of the coaches make the same point over and over about 6 times, I can see why.  Plus it was hot and they did a crap job at refilling the plastic (yes I said plastic cups for $13 a plate) with water.

And the awards portion...hello let's get with the program of not everyone needs an award...I do not care if you puked in a bucket or are one of the biggest flirts on the team.  Yes, the team flirt award went to about 7 people while 4 people got a puker award.  Let's get real and give awards to the best of the best only....plus instead of calling each award, just call up a kid say a few nice words and list the awards they got.  It was constant stream of kids doing up downs...and one kid was basically publicly embarrassed because he was in the bathroom.
Any who ha...here is the steppie with her certifcates.

Thankfully this thing finished up in time, so we could make it home to watch Shameless because that is what Sundays are for...and putting away wash, which I will be doing today instead. On that note...I am out of here...enjoy the week

Hey Yo

It's Friday. y'all know.  Today it is going to be brief and to the point aka I am busier then a one legged man in an ass kicking contest (as my dad used to say).

The weather in Wisco is finally turning around. Yesterday I saw a Canadian goose flying north and my backyard is a cesspool of poop.  All of this means, summer is right around the corner, whoot.

Until then though...here is a super quick easy project for you to do.  The teenagers who do not believe in normal socialization will thank you for this.

WIFI Information

First grab a picture frame.  I used a 5x7.

Go to this website:  I Rock so what

Print off.

I then cut mine with some scrapbooking scissors and glued onto a piece of paper since I was using a floating picture frame.

Then place in picture frame (make sure it is perfectly center or it will drive someone crazy).

Write your wifi password on the glass with a dry erase marker.

Boom all day.

Super simple, happy guests and teenagers.  Happy teenagers, you should write that down since it is a rare occurrence.

Now go get out there and enjoy some almost springtime air.

Emily Ley Simplified Planner

This has been a long time in the coming. My decision to wait so long came after the conclusion I had to give the planner(s) that I had selected a good test to see if it truly fit me.

When it comes to scheduling and notes, I am still a pen and paper kind of girl. My planner is basically my bible.  Thoughts, ideas, possible events, to do's, you name it, it all starts in my planner before it hits the main house calendar or anyone's Google calendar.  Within the last year, I was on a quest for more of a "me" planner.  The 2014 planner was the "Mom's Plan It".  I used the "Mom's Plan-It" for years and it was always good to me except the time came where my life outgrew it.  You see the "Mom's Plan It" is great for parents who need to keep track of  younger children to tweens. Now our tribe each has their own things going on and places to be, yet our family still needs to coordinate it all, so on the quest for a planner I went.

Last year, I stumbled upon the Emily Ley Simplified Planner except I originally ran into one problem, it was a daily version.  Well behold later in 2014 she came out with a weekly edition for 2015.   I stalked the website for the release date and by the start of 2015 I had it in my hands.  Please join me on my little walk thru....everyone hold hands and stick together.

The size of the planner is: 9" x 10".  The cover is hard and sturdy coils hold everything together.  The corners are protected with beautiful gold metal that compliments the gold foiling on the front cover.  Upon opening you will find the standard first page, plus the front cover has a pocket for papers.  If you are anything like me, that pocket is a must.

Also in the front, there is a section that lists the 2015 holidays and Miss Emily Ley's motto.

Moving on you will find the 2015 at a glance calendar along with a 2015 Bucket List. I love the bucket list page for my yearly goals, trips etc.

There is a tab to get you to each monthly section.  Each month section starts off with the calendar for the month.  There is a small section for notes on the left side.

Now looking a little closer at the month view, you are also treated to a quote for the month.  Plus there are smaller calendars of the month prior and the next month.

After the month section, you move onto to the weekly portion of the month.  There is a place to list appointments plus a spot where you can list to do's on Monday thru Friday. Saturday and Sunday there is a spot just to put appointments.  And lastly for each day is a section where you can write your menu for that day.

The purple lines that you see on the page were added by me.  I felt I needed a little more division within the page.

Finally let's get to the verdict...drum roll please.....it was not for me.  Being that it was the first version coming from a company that really focused on a daily planner, I thought they did a great job.  I will be interested to see the changes that they made for this next weekly planner version.

The downsides:
  •    I prefer a master to do list for my week, not one on each individual day
  •    No divider lines between the days
  •    No little monthly calendar on the weekly spread for me to refer too
  •    No quote on the weekly spread (they have these on the daily pages in the daily planner)
The Awesomeness:
  • Sturdy cover
  • Monthly View
  • Pockets on the cover
  • Goal/Bucket list

Even though this version was not for me I will be waiting to see what changes are made in their second version.  If you are interested though...and this is the golden egg you were looking for or are looking for some other fun things (because she has some other cute organizing things, and I love her free Sunday checklist printable) head over to the website:   Emily Ley Simplified Planner

And stay tuned for the next holy banana jammers I need to try this planner review...

ps...if you have any planners that I must check out, please let me know in the comments...because hello I am an addict.
