Memorial Day Memories

First and foremost you cannot forget the importance of Memorial Day...remembering those that have given their lives for our freedom.

And secondly that Memorial day means:
1. We get a three day weekend!!
2.  The unofficial start of Summer and Wisconsin weather finally caught up

Where did my weekend go...basically experiencing the highlights of a summer all in one weekend.   Like a rockstar I say. We go to work to rest.

First up was camping aka going up north with the family.
Nothing better than starting off the camp with a few four wheeler rides.  For a few of the girl's it was their first time. Then of course there was the campfire.
Being in Wisconsin and all, it was pretty darn cold at night.  The weatherman was saying it was suppose to be like 45-50 both nights.   Seriously though think it was more like in the 30's.  For those of you outside of Wisconsin...we are crazy enough to sleep in a tent in 50 degree weather and be like boom that's warm.  Ha, especially after this winter.

In the morning, we made our attempt at omellettes in a bag.  Notice I said attempt.  Placing a bag in boiling water over a campfire resulted in some melting bags.  Since some of our patience, ok my patience ran out...a girl gets hungry...egg bag to the microwave versus the wait.

With full bellies it was time for a little searching at the flea market.

It is so interesting at flea markets you never know what you find.  Sometimes it is junk and other times you get to see people's creativity.  You could even find a mini outhouse at this flea market.  And of course, the amish and their delectable baked goods were there. I can't even bake that good with electricity not sure how they can do it without. That little amish boy was just adorable.

To add a little excitement to our weekend, I even picked up the bocce ball game. Of course the rules had to be modified so we decided to add that you had to pick a funny position to toss the ball from. And guess who was the biggest loser...yep it was I. Got beat by a 14 and 10 year old.

After we got our game on, it was off to do some exploring at rabbit rock.  This place is just so much fun to climb around on.  Of course, the girls were far more brave then I. Still have not made it to the top of the highest rock, but give us sometime and maybe someday. Views beautiful.

And our last excursion of the camping part of the weekend was geocaching.  Had five written down and we found two.  One we had to give up on because the smell from the dead fish by the river was just too much.  Found out later that one was really not there.  The other two that we did not find...after reading some comments determined we may need to up the geocaching bag goodies.  People are clever little hiders.   If you want to know more about the whole geocaching thing, let me know.   Here though was a snippet of our discoveries:

Then come Sunday there was rushing home to unpack, defunk and hit the water.  Yipee it is boating season!!

Absolutely nothing like water shenigans.   We also caught a band at our favorite "tiki" bar and of course had their special island punch.

Memorial Day Monday the boating continued this time with a new captain at the wheel.  Super proud of the Cooper who was walking all on his own at the sand bar.  Like nope I don't need your hand I got this.

Ended our Memorial Day weekend making it home just before the rain came.  If this last weekend was a glimpse at the summer to come...bring it already.  Warm weather, sunshine, fun with the family.
