If you have been around here for any moment in time it should come as no surprise that since the weather in Wisconsin was wonderful, we were on the water......again.
We were graced with some glorious weather for kayaking on this Saturday morning. This weekend the steppie was along for a little rivertime. This was a blue heron that we saw on excursion. Closest I could get before it flew away.
Then we saw what we thought may just be a swan, but nope just a pelican. Which we then of course proceeded with an attempt to stalk the thing. Again, here is the closest I got before it decided to fly away on us.
And after it flew away, we believe that it may have been stalking us all the way down the river. We saw a pelican flying over our heads a few too many times. Creeper.
After the morning out on the kayaks, we had to take swagtime out for a little lake cruise and sandbar time, of course. Sadly by the afternoon it was a little cold. Here is a picture of the girls, oh and the little brother.
As we pointed out to him, come every other weekend the boys will be completely out numbered by the girls. Let's hope for the boys it doesn't turn out ot be everyone's "time of the month." They may just not survive that.
Now during our little lake excursion, we had to take a swing by the bald eagle's nest. There is definetly one baby in there. The nest is very high in one of the trees, so I did my best to get a picture to share.
The little bro says that the nest is like the size of a volkswagon beetle aka that it is huge. Really think he should play monkey and get the official measurements for us. Also, I was told that the baby eagles do not get the white on their heads until they are around three. Now so far in our few passes we have not had the chance to see the mom and dad yet. Just have to wait patiently.
Saturday night we had the joy of making a new friend. As we were sitting in the garage grilling this little furball comes strolling up the driveway.
Most adorable little thing. Looked completely lost. Of course, we could not let it go back wandering. It was to scared to let us pick it up or go near it. To gain it's trust we proceeded to feed it hot dogs until I was able to scoop it up to see if there was a tag on the collar. Much to our dismay there was no tag on the pink camo collar of this poor little girl. We figured someone had to be looking for her and went for a walk.
Walking down the sidewalk we ran into some people who were grateful we were able to get her on a leash. Plus they told us some boys were looking for her. Set off and found the boys, who were not the owner, just helping look. They called the owner and "Jake" found his way back home. What did we learn...never judge a dog by it's collar remember to lift their tale, whoops we had a boy and not a girl. Very happy little Jake made it home safe and sound with the possibility of the poops from the 2 hot dogs, at least we warned the owner.
And of course our Sunday was the famous house cleaning shopping day. Nothing really to report on that except since it was chilly out, I had no choice but to weed out one my flower beds. The clovers are fierce this year.
There you have yet another glimpse into our little weekend fun....stay tuned for my kayaking must haves. Happy hump day.
Haha the eagle picture makes me laugh! What a cute little dog!
