Feeling the Buzz

Feeling the buzz on the day of love...a mass sugar buzz that would be.  Very grateful for that sugar buzz we carried thru the weekend.  It was a crazy busy weekend.  Friday I came home to find a box of cupcakes from L.  Winning.

Saturday started off with a 10 mile run that was fueled by my Friday dinner of movie theater butter popcorn and cupcakes. Really it is not the wisest thing to do, but it was delicious on Friday.   Met up with the Forest then for a quick stop over at The Natural Way store and restaurant.  Oh my goodness, I grabbed some lobster bisque to go and it was deliciousness, people.  Then it was off on the quest for dog food...and more cupcakes.
You know because you can never have too many cupcakes and I am giving up sweets very, very soon.  After loading up on some of the important things in life, it was time to go on the quest for a bow tie for my son for winterfest. We failed.  Kohls and Boston Store do not carry bow ties.  I was rather surprised.

After all of this running around, it was time to continue getting together everything for our February 80's movie night.  The menu for the evening was to be pizza, cupcakes, oreo balls, white chocolate popcorn (recipe courtesy of Sara), and some movie theater candies.  Sugary sweet overwhelming goodness going on right there.

And that was the glorious mess that became our sweet popcorn treat.  It was scrumptious.  I will say if you attempt, it is easiest with two people.  We also made some red velvet Oreo balls.  And so far the original Oreo balls are still the overall favorites.   Next month we will try the mint Oreo balls.

After all of this, the Forest arrived home from work and it was time to bring on the movie.  Our movie of choice from the 80's:  Can't Buy Me Love.   The overall verdict from the teens...it was ok.  Now and the hubbie and I didn't realize how absolutely cheesie that movie really was.  After all it was fantastic in the 80's.

Sunday brought about getting the house cleaned up, grocery shopping done and dinner going in the slow cooker because....we got to go to another fun filled activity, a historical museum tour.

There is so much to talk about related to this event, I will be doing a follow up post.  For now though, let me sing the praises (yet again) of the Horicon Phoenix group that teamed up with the Satterlee Clark House Historical Museum to bring our city a little winter fest.  The museum was open for tours, there was a chili cook off, crafts, forging demonstrations, and sledding.

Most of all for me though it was a flood of memories.  Memories of when I went there in grade school, the old restaurant in the downtown and some of our desks from school.  Which let me tell you, when you see a desk you probably sat in at the historical society...you feel just a little old.  Until another day I will just leave you with a few of pictures....

Amazing what treasures you find or have forgotten about in your town, so get out there do some exploring and rekindle some memories you will won't be sorry.
