Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's Back to School you go

Finally the time came to get the teenagers back off the couch and back to school.  Thank goodness.  Those indents in the couch were on the verge of becoming permanent.

Once again I am very disappointed in the steppies school.  Not like anything would change from last year. They did take it to a new level for me this year.  They were spending two hours (approx.) out of everyday during the first week of school to teach the kids how to walk down the hallway, getting on buses and of course, the new rules for the school year (get this one).  My steppie is in 8th grade.  If your school has not taught my steppie how to walk properly down the hallway by 8th grade, your district needs help.  And let's not overlook that they managed to lose the forms we filled out and dropped off before school even started.  This is why I make copies.  This school is also a feel good school.  Everyone is great there is no failure.  Please, please just teach my child what it is like in the real world. Hate to tell you but not everyone is a winner.  You, as an individual, need to strive to better yourself.

Now Forest already a few cross country meets under his belt (watch out for a post on cross country). Back into the full swing of school activities and friends. His school this year has decided to issue the Freshmen and Sophmores laptops.  First glance it didn't seem too bad.  After finding out now that he can only use them in classes where there are no juniors or seniors, really trying to figure out what the point was.  So far he has only used it in one or two classes and then to check sports scores.  Otherwise just a  standard year in the books for him so far.  And we are thinking about homecoming already.  Where did the time go.

Finally, our school year goal setting for the teenagers has been done.  Here is where we are with that:
Steppie - Volleyball : 5 or more points -Basketball 10 or more points - Band Chair Improvement : TBD

Forest - Basketball : 20 or more points - Cross Country : 20 min 30 sec or less - Track : 2 mile under 12 minutes and long jump more then 14 ft

Both - High Honors

Head in the game teenagers, and Good Luck

Dawn Marie
