Yellow Pig Day

Time to Celebrate.  Today is Yellow Pig Day.

From Punchbowl:
You're probably wondering, "What the heck is Yellow Pig Day?" This unique celebration dates back to the 1960s when two math students at Princeton were given an assignment to analyze the properties of the number 17. Thinking about the number 17 for so long drove them a bit nuts, (as you can imagine), so they came up with the idea of a mythical yellow pig. The yellow pig had seventeen toes, seventeen teeth, seventeen eyelashes, etc.
Today, mathematicians in colleges and universities all across the country celebrate Yellow Pig Day by eating Yellow Pig Cake and singing Yellow Pig Carols (seriously, we couldn't make this stuff up). And of course, the festivities always take place on the 17th day of July.

In celebration of Yellow Pig Day in our house, my peeps awoke to find this:

Celebrating is just soo much fun.  Especially when it is a surprise.

Weekend Shenanigans

You know that moment when you have the greatest intention to write a blog post and then life kind of happens.  On Friday, I really had the intent/wanted to write a snippet about the awesome "haul" I made on Friday.  Of course now it is Monday.  The whole weekend thing happened and is over with (thank goodness).  If I didn't come to work, I would die from fun exhaustation. Serious people.  On that note let's round up the weekend shenanigans.

1. The Friday Haul - Had the day off. And since I had to go to the dentist used this as the chance to swing into the mall and spend a little "quality" time with the teenage boy.
Buddy Squirrel. This cheese popcorn seriously should be illegal.  I can not even put into words the amount extreme goodness that this bag contains.  Greasy, cheesey, aaahhh the clouds part and the sun shines down. Heaven.
Lush. Checked out this place.  Purely based on recommendation regarding their ocean salt scrub and serum for dry skin.  Handmade and all natural.  The girls there were awesome.  Even kept the teenage boy busy with trying out some stuff to make him even more appealing to his girlfriend (yeah thanks for that by the way).  Ended up getting: Ocean Salt Scrub, Serum, Toner, Soap, and samples (love). Watch for a future possible profession of my love of these items.
Sephora.  Wow.  There is so much going on in that place. Good thing I had a list of need to try stuff or I would have been completely lost. Love the fact they gave me a perfume sample to try out. Again, heads up for a possibly, love hate moment on these things.
Bath and Body Works.  Half off on candles and a new perfume.  Forever Red....smells wonderful.
The dentist.  Yeah did I mention that is why I had off in the first place.  Ha, you even get stuff there.  Seriously next time I really have to let them know I have way too many tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes etc.  Do love the feeling of some nice clean teeth and best of all no cavities for myself or Forest.

2.Double Trouble Twin Time.

Not many things better then getting to have a sleepover at Auntie Dawn's.
Getting all ready to go to Grandma's house.

And still getting ready....this is the point when the hubbie is like, you aren't ready yet?

Finally we were off.   Now this was a whole new experience for me running with two babies in a jogging stroller.  Talk about work.  Kudos to any moms out there who do this on a regular basis.

3. Lake Time.  Taking out Swagtime for it's maiden voyage. Sit back and enjoy the ride.  We sure did.

Hubbies first time driving (is that what it is called in a boat)

Seriously people this is where you will be finding me.  Feet up chillin' every chance I get.

Stopped at a sandbar for a quick dip

Teenager being all teenagerish

A tiki bar on the shoreline.  Stop for some music, snack, and of course a quick cocktail.

After a successful first trip time for a little celebration.

Now I suppose I should mention that after the Tiki Bar there was a stop at another bar for some actual food.  Thank goodness for that.  Then we started to speed home only to realize how much gas that little boat of ours eats when you are going super fast.  Yeppers we ran out of gas.   Some people were kind enough to give us a tow back. What did we learn...buy a bigger gas tank or bring back up.  Really it was an amazing time even with our little trouble.

Conclusion "The Toadies" may have it dead on:

Starting to think, nope I know this next weekend can not come fast enough.  Thank goodness this lucky girl only has to work four days again.

Tra La La

Tra La La!!  Finally, the day has arrived where I can shout out the latest and greatest news.  We are now the proud partial owners of a BOAT!!

This came up and then went down fairly quickly.  After our weekends on the water, it became evident how much we love, love the water.  Leave it up to me to cruise craigslist, find a boat, and then email to everyone.  BOOM...split second later everyone (the hubbie and little bro) thinks it is a great idea. And suddenly the wheels were in motion.  Little bro took care of going to check it out and doing all of those things.  I am sooooo grateful he did that. Now I do have to say in the midst of my I want, I want (stomping my feet), his very centered, calm, we will see self made me want to ring his neck.  After all I wanted.

Anywho on with the story.  He looked.  Didn't hear anything from him.  That was like the longest two hours.   Then he shows up on a motorcycle, no boat.  Proceeds to give no clues as to whether or not we were all going to be boat owners.  Then as he is stting right next to us we get a pic message from him.  BAM...picture of the boat in his driveway.  YES YES YES

Throw the teenagers in the car for the surprise...they did not have any idea until we pulled in the driveway. So Fun.   Ok so now let's check out our little pride and joy. Already nicknamed...

Swag Time

Yeah...that would be water skis included. Let's cross our fingers there is not a broken leg post in the future.

And one happy hubbie.

Now to take care of the little details before we can take it on our maiden voyage.  Sunday can not come soon enough.

On the water weekend

Hello Tuesday.  Now even though once again last night I somewhat got consumed by yet another episode of  "The Following" (more on that here). Then the little excursion to my little bros house.  That little excursion though will be bringing some huge news to our family.  Hold on to your britches, send some well wishes/prayers our way that this news does not fall thru.  Seriously just want to scream it out on here, argh. Patience.

Alrighty let's just get to the point of this whole wonderful little blog post I got going on here.  Which would be the weekend.  Saturday morning marked the first "official" (this really means no more skipping, get your butt in gear) day for my half marathon training.

Breakfast of champs right there(english muffin with peanut butter and mommie's homemade jam).  And me looking all nice and fresh pre 7 mile run.  Sorry folks no after picture...no one wants to see that.  If you do..no words.

Since kicking my own butt once is never enough...bring on the kayak.  Perfect day to take the steppie out in the kayak.  And do some....

Our end destination today again was my little bro's house on the river.  We actually had a mission.  Pick some mulberries for pie.
Sorry didn't get a picture of the glorious pie. Getting the stems off of these things is definetly a challenge.  Here is what your feet end up looking like to after.
Purple feeters

After running, kayaking, baking...it was off to visit a friend of mine(BJ) at his parent's house for a little BBQ.  Sorry for the lack of pictures here.  Feel a little awkward taking tons of pictures around new people.  BJ's parents have a house on the lake.  Oh my goodness it was beautiful.  His parents are absolutely wonderful.  One of the things that completely amazed me about their house was when they built they had to take down some old oak(I think) trees.   They repurposed them into the floors in the house.  Love that.

Now yet another reason I completely fell in love with his mom. Her totally rocking out the whole let's go boating theme.  She had a basket with a captains hat and a crazy catfish.  This accompanies them everytime they go on the boat.  Amazeballs.  Confirmation that I am not the only crazy person who loves to do stuff like that.  Now some moments....
Hubbie and me

BJ, the actual captain, and me...check out the crazy catfish.

Way up in that tree was a bald eagles nest.  No one was home today though.
Ended our Saturday with fireworks (that we got to watch from the boat).  Thank you BJ and your amazing family for a wonderful day and making us feel so welcome.

Now Sunday, was the standard do the house stuff kind of day...boring.  After my steppie received some sad news. The little bro decided she need to let loose for a bit.Thank you little bro (we think) for such a great idea.

Oh how I love summer weekends.  Family , friends, food, and fun times.

Monday, July 8, 2013

And then it was Monday...

Of course my intention on Monday is always to reflect back on our living like rockstar weekends.  Play hard or go home...or go to work.  Going to work on Monday is the forced regroup. I guess everyone needs a guaranteed break from all the fun.  Anyways, that little weekend show summary will not be happenening at the moment due to living it up until the very end this weekend.  So my pretties you will need to wait until tomorrow.

I will let you in on what caused part of this little delay. A tv show.  Yep. Instead of going thru my pictures from our little weekend show I was watching TV.  This is not a common occurence by any means.  How did this happen.  A morning show, Elvis Duran, kept talking about this show called "The Following".  After hearing them talk it up for so long, I discovered that they were going to reair the show over the summer.  Awesome.  Hook me up, I am in.  First episode I watched.  Fantastic.

Here is the trailer, FYI it seriously is INTENSE:

Oh and on my first episode of the show, I only screamed once.   Completely blaming that on the little chiweenie starting to bark and the  very instant someone jumped out during the show.  So for now...peace out my peeps until tomorrow.
