The Thankful Project Day 3

The Thankful Project: 28 days of blogging with intentional gratitude
Today I am linking up with Chasing Happy on the Thankful Project. From Chasing Happy: "The Thankful Project will be 28 days of intentional gratitude and community. Each day, we'll write a post in response to a gratitude prompt".

Todays prompt is "a place". Actually it was few days ago, life took over and I got under the weather. Still did not want to pass it up though. On that note here we go.

The place I am most thankful for is....my hometown.

I had the opportunity to grow up in a small town.   Everyone pretty much knew everyone.   All of my family was there.  Living in a small town while growing up taught me about the good nature of people.  The no worries.   Now that does not go without saying everyone also knew everyones business.  Which led me to leave the small town for a period to go to the city.  Today though you will find me back in the small town.  Moving my son from the city to the small town I feel made a huge impact on him.  The core values learned from living in a small town I am very thankful for.

My small town is also on the marsh.  Yet another reason why this is the place I am thankful for.  I learned the love of the outdoors and beauty it holds.

Who can not be thankful for a place that has a bar with this sign outside...and they have awesome burgers too.

Look at that beauty.

Yep, I am most thankful for my hometown.  It made me who I am today.

October Favorites

Now that we are clearly into November no better time then to hit on some of my October favorites.  Life just seems to get a little busy at times or lack of ambition sets in, either way.  On with it, peeps.

1. Tornados....What!?!  Who in their right mind have this as a favorite.  Well this girl.  Why because it happened in October.  Not like May, June, July or August like it would normally in Wisconsin. So therefore this natural disaster gets a favorite mention this month.
Shout out to quality time in the basement.

2. Carmel Apples.   I wait all year for this.  Yes, you could have it in another month. But, not the same (at least in my world)

and the extra bonus this year...being accompanied by these dorks making the pumpkin farm even more fun.

3. Homecoming. My son actually going to his first homecoming dance.

4. Mommie and me time.  Getting all dressed up and going to see Jersey Boys with my mom and have some pretty awesome food (and cocktails) afterwards.
and even though I mentioned possibly just a few times before that dress was the bomb.  Had pockets and everything.  Super awesome.

5. Corss Country Sectionals and getting to see all the kids hard work pay off.

Amazingly proud of him of this year for overcoming his injuries and never giving up.  Great Spirit.

6. And, of course.  Halloween.  Let's hear it for actually celebrating this year.  No let me rephrase that, how about finally getting dressed up and going out as an adult.  Pub Crawl.  Yeah we rocked our costumes.

And now that is definetly a wrap for a very packed month of October.  If only it felt like we were in November instead of December.  Way too much Christmas going on for me right now people.  Let's enjoy the turkey before the tree.

The Thankful Project Day 2

The Thankful Project: 28 days of blogging with intentional gratitude
Today I am linking up with Chasing Happy on the Thankful Project. From Chasing Happy: "The Thankful Project will be 28 days of intentional gratitude and community. Each day, we'll write a post in response to a gratitude prompt".

And today's prompt is....What role are you thankful to have played?

Once agan I am sitting here thinking there are so many that I am thankful for.  A teacher would be one.  The ability to teach someone, watch them learn, and grow as a person.  Whether it is my kids, hubbie, pups, friends, or coworkers. I love it.  Which actually leads into another role I am thankful for...

CHEERLEADER

Blast from the past but, nope definetly not that kind of cheerleader.  Cheerleader in the sense of encouraging and watching people accomplish there goals.  I am very thankful that people in my life have given me the opportunity to be their cheerleader.

Reflecting back, I believe one of my favorite cheerleading moments would be the: Brewers Mini Marathon.  This moment I had the privilege to watch my friend develop/train and run the 13.1 miles.  Stuck by her side, encouraging her the entire way.  I am very thankful she gave me the chance to be her cheerleader. Oh and not punch me in the nose when I got a little bit like a drill sergeant when she had her doubts.

Today I am grateful for the role I have been able to play as a teacher and cheerleader.

Let's Go, Whoot Whoot!!

The Thankful Project

The Thankful Project: 28 days of blogging with intentional gratitude
Today I am linking up with Chasing Happy on the Thankful Project.  From Chasing Happy: "The Thankful Project will be 28 days of intentional gratitude and community. Each day, we'll write a post in response to a gratitude prompt".  Loved this fun idea.

Today's Prompt was a person.  Now for me this was extremely difficult. I am so lucky to have a lot of people in life who I am thankful for.  Today I am going to give it up for my son aka Forest.

For 16 years we have basically traveled down the same path.  Been thru some very crazy, hard times.  My pregancy with him is why I sobered up. He is the reasoning behind why I pushed myself hard and progressed.  Do better for him, for my family.

This young man has a amazing heart on him.  He will protect his family and realizes the importance of family.  He is one of the most chilled people that I know (this does drive me crazy too).   When I want to go crazy, his "patience, chill", will pull me back just slightly.  (key word: slightly) He has given me the ability to teach some of the hardest lessons to help him develop to be a better person than I ever could be.  Then the cliche: "he knows what my heart sounds like from the inside".

Not sure where I would be without him.  For him in my life I am very thankful everyday.

xoxo
